Clinic Topics
Round Pen Techniques
The round pen is a classroom not an exercise ring.
Learn how to use it to further your horse's training.
Communicate with your horse in a way he understands.
Control movement, speed and direction with subtle cues that keep
your horse focused on you. These exercises can be fun and will teach
your
horse important lessons such as stand to be caught, come to me and much
more!
Riding for Control
Having control of all the parts of your horse enable
you to
perform infinite maneuvers in all disciplines. Through simple
exercises
you will experience a way to communicate to your horse exactly what you
want
him to do. He will also know exactly when he did it correctly.
Focusing on what you want
instead of what you don't want will achieve amazing results and you will
begin to understand
what 'control' feels like. With control, your goals can be realized
in the show ring, the cattle pen or on the trail.
Control can be defined as having the ability to ask a part of your horse
to move in a
specific direction at a specific speed with the subtlest of cues.
All clinics will begin at the same level and move forward according to
the progress of horse/rider in each group.
Ground Exercises
"You ride the horse you lead" is exactly the focus of
this clinic. Learn exercises that will
improve your horse's ground manners or prepare a youngster for saddle
work. Exercises will
focus on increasing your safety while handling your horse, improve your
horse's responsiveness to
your cues on the halter or bridle and more.
Trail Skills
It takes a very well trained horse to be safe on the
trails these days.
Teach your horse the necessary skills he needs to be that safe and
reliable
mount you can trust to bring you back home. Exercises in this clinic
are tailored to
trail riding and include de-spooking, stand to mount, crossing bridges and
other
obstacles including water. I strive to provide real life obstacles
where possible.
Clinic will include some pen work and some trail work.
Trailer Loading
Nothing can be more frustrating or embarrassing than a
horse that doesn't load
on a trailer, especially if he has always loaded before. You always
find out that your horse
only loads when he wants to at the most inopportune times. I will
teach you how to load your horse
safely on a trailer - any where, any time, any trailer.

Got your own group of
riders? Then why don't you host a Clinic at your Facility? I offer a flat
rate/day for off farm clinics.
Contact us today
Riding clinics require a suitably sized facility for the number of
participants.
Horses must be able to be safely ridden with other horses at a walk and
trot.
You will begin to understand
how to work with each part of your horse's body, something that transfers
to all disciplines of riding.
